36 stratagems for managers
36 stratagems for managers
Book Description
The concept of a stratagem has existed in Chinese culture for at least three thousand years. It can be interpreted as a kind of plan or calculation, as a trick or as a military ruse. In a broader sense, stratagems are strategic techniques and indirect tactical moves used in difficult situations to achieve goals, gain advantages and intercept initiatives. The art of stratagems is applicable in all life circumstances when the task cannot be solved by direct, "frontal" techniques. The stratagem is built as an algorithm, its success depends on understanding the psychological characteristics of the enemy, taking into account the specifics of the situation, the ability to calculate moves and anticipate their consequences, on discipline in the implementation of the plan. Open publications of the collection of 36 stratagems appeared in China only in the second half of the XX century and quickly became one of the world's bestsellers on business strategy and psychology. The author of the book, Harro von Sanger, a well-known sinologist and researcher of the doctrine of stratagems, adapted the wisdom of Chinese strategists for a modern manager and described their use in business practice and in everyday life. The publication, verified with the last author's edition of 2016, is addressed primarily to owners and business leaders. At the same time, it will undoubtedly arouse the interest of a wide range of readers. 2nd edition, revised and expanded.
