This issue of Brief Communications of the IA RAS is devoted to the results of research conducted in recent years by the Department of Security Excavations of the IA RAS. The published articles introduce into scientific circulation the latest materials from the excavations of monuments of different eras - from the Bronze Age to the New Age, located on the territory of Eastern Europe. Of particular interest is a series of studies carried out in medieval cities, including those destroyed during the Mongol-Tatar invasion.
