This monograph summarizes the existing approaches to the understanding of conscientiousness (in an objective sense); the author's theory of conscientiousness - the theory of "specific life circumstances" is proposed; the formation of the principle of conscientiousness is shown, the scope of its application is determined; the effect of the principle of good faith in interaction with other principles of civil law is shown in order to establish the scale of bona fide behavior of participants in civil legal relations, the specifics of the application of standards of bona fide behavior in the non-contractual sphere are determined, including when assessing the behavior of the parties to the contractual obligation.
