Hoffmann's Christmas tales. The Nutcracker and other fairy tales
Hoffman's work consists of an unbreakable connection between the fantastic and real worlds, bizarre characters connect reality with mysticism, everyday life with ghostly visions. The characters of the writer are trying to break out of the shackles of the universe surrounding them and create their own exceptional sensitive mirage. Hoffmann's writings are imbued with a sense of the duality of being in the first decades of the XIX century, a painful discord in the human soul between the ideal and reality, art and earthly life. The dignity of a true creator, as Hoffmann was, cannot accept the incessant struggle for a piece of bread, without which human existence is impossible.
