This publication is devoted to the history and the current stage of development of the International Olympic Movement. The first chapter of the publication describes the historical aspects of the origin, development and decline of the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece, the formation of the traditions of Olympism. The next three chapters describe the stage of the revival of the Olympic Games, describe the periods of formation of the modern International Olympic movement, systematize the results of the performances of the best national teams and the best athletes at the Olympics and Winter Olympics. A comparative analysis of the performances of national teams from different countries in different periods of the modern Olympic movement is also presented. The last, fifth chapter, is devoted to the results of the 120-year period of the International Olympic Movement, the ways of its improvement and increasing its importance in modern society are proposed. The role of domestic sports in the development of the International Olympic Movement is considered separately. Special attention is paid to the peacekeeping mission of the International Olympic Movement as the main vector of its development. The book is of interest to teachers and students of universities of physical education and sports, researchers and other specialists in the field of sports, as well as wide readership.
