Middle Ages. Issue 71 (3-4)
Book Description
The next issue publishes materials of the conference "Royal power, nobility, court in the Middle Ages", similar problems of power are touched upon in articles devoted to the history of medieval cities of the West and Rus'. The central place is occupied by the traditional heading "Neighboring regions, related disciplines", which this time presents historical psychology, the stages of its formation, the works of its founders and followers. As always, a great deal of space is given to publications of translations of diverse medieval sources (a treatise by Gregory of Tours, a report by the German ambassadors on the events in Veliky Novgorod, a prologue to a medieval encyclopedia). New approaches to well-known literary works are demonstrated by the works united under the heading "The Historian in the Labyrinth of Literary Genres". Images of power and society in England in the Middle Ages and early modern times are the focus of attention of the authors of the "Imaginary England" column. The issue also contains the sections "Medieval Studies in Russian Universities", "Chronicle", reviews and reviews of domestic and foreign publications. For historians and a wide range of humanities readers.
