The textbook discusses the main provisions characterizing the organizational and legal system of maritime transport, state supervision of merchant shipping, the legal status of seaports, state port control, requirements for sea vessels, their classification and inspection. The issues of management in the field of merchant shipping, safety of sea transportation and pilotage of ships are highlighted. The main aspects of the legal regulation of sea transportation of passengers, cargo, baggage in domestic and international traffic, as well as regulation of the contract of chartering a vessel for a time (time charter) and the contract of chartering a vessel without a crew (bareboat charter) are investigated. The article analyzes the responsibility of the parties to contractual relations in the organization and implementation of sea transportation, as well as the claim-claim procedure for resolving disputes during transportation. A number of institutions of maritime law are considered, including marine insurance, general accident, marine lien on a ship, mortgage of a ship, arrest of a ship, maritime protests. The textbook is intended for graduate students, as well as for graduate students and teachers of law schools and faculties, transport universities, practicing lawyers, employees of transport structures.
