Spiders of central Russia. Atlas - determinant with an overview of biology
Book Description
Atlas-determinant of spiders of the middle zone of Russia is the first educational publication of this kind. It presents over 900 illustrations, of which about 800 are unique color photographs of live spiders taken in a natural setting. The book introduces the reader to the mysterious world of arachnids, almost not reflected in Russian literature. Acquaintance with it begins with a review of the biology of spiders, showing all aspects of the life of these most interesting creatures: structure, nutrition, reproduction, hunting methods, web weaving, etc. The description of 35 spider families (which is about a third of all existing in the world) will give an idea of the diversity of these arthropods. Tips on collecting spiders and ways to observe them in nature precede the story about the brightest and most interesting representatives of our araneofauna. The main part of the book contains information about 170 species living in the middle belt, grouped for ease of use by the atlas of spider habitats. The final chapter provides an overview of all modern orders of arachnids and some of their extinct representatives. The publication is provided with an appendix containing a complete list of spider species in central Russia, a list of recommended scientific literature and links to Internet resources. The undoubted advantage of the book is that thanks to the extensive experience and professionalism of the creators of the book, the convenient presentation of the material and the abundance of photographs, the atlas allows even an unprepared reader to identify up to a family, and in many cases up to a genus or species, a representative of this extremely difficult group to identify. For a wide range of readers, schoolchildren, students, university and school teachers, employees of environmental services and all nature lovers. 2nd edition, revised and expanded.
