Postfaktum. Zapiski sportivnogo diplomata
Today, the sport of high achievements is not only and not even so much a competition in various disciplines as a large-scale reality show, which is watched by millions of viewers around the world. And international sports, including the international Olympic movement, is a political show on a planetary scale, in which sports functionaries and diplomats play their own special, important role. Viktor Alekseevich Khotochkin is rightfully called one of the most authoritative experts in the field of international sports diplomacy. Back in the Soviet years, he was the General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of the USSR, was directly involved in the organization of the legendary hockey Super Series -72, and in recent history, for many years he headed the Department of International Relations of the Russian Olympic Committee. He attended all the Olympic Games from 1972 to 2016, and at two of them in Athens-2004 and London-2012) was the Olympic attache of the official delegation of Russia. It is already difficult to imagine such a thing, but the European sports ministers twice supported Viktor Khotochkin's candidacy at the vote, and he headed the Sports Development Committee of the Council of Europe for four years. The list goes on. Events in international sports described by Viktor Khotochkin in the book "Post Factum. Notes of a sports diplomat", occur from the early 1970s to our time. The author conveyed the characteristic atmosphere of the events, being a direct participant; told about people who have already gone down in history. And he honestly expressed his attitude to what is happening today. The book provides a unique opportunity to look into the non-public space of the international sports backstage.
