This edition of the textbook is the third, substantially revised, supplemented with new sections that take into account changes in world and domestic economic theory and practice. The publication complies with the new educational standards of the third generation. Forecasting, programming, strategic planning and state regulation of the economy are considered from the position of the scientific school of the Department of Forecasting and Planning of the Agroindustrial Complex of the Russian State Agricultural Academy named after K. A. Timiryazev. The department was established in 1922 by the founder of the economic theory of foresight N. D. Kondratiev. The textbook examines a set of methods and techniques of the theory of foresight, modern methodology of strategic planning, programming, state regulation of the country's economy and agriculture at various levels of management.
