The Lying Life of Adults
Giovanna's beautiful face has changed: it turns into the face of an ugly, angry teenager. But does she see things for what they really are? Where should she look for her true reflection and a life that she can claim as her own? Giovanna's search takes her to two sister cities that fear and hate each other: Naples of the highlands, which wears a mask of sophistication, and Naples of the depths, a place of excess and vulgarity. Adrift, she oscillates between the two cities, falling into one, then climbing back into the other. The False Life of Adults, set in a divided Naples, is a unique portrayal of the transition from childhood to adolescence and adulthood.
