The publication presents quite different national types of criminal proceedings within Europe to enable the reader to compare them: England and Wales, German-speaking states (Austria, Germany and Switzerland), France, Spain, states of the former "socialist camp" (Bulgaria, Poland), Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania), Eastern European states (Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine). The paper also highlights the general provisions of modern criminal procedure law in Europe and issues of its harmonization within the European Union. Regulatory legal acts have been used as of September 1, 2017. It is intended for students studying in the direction of "Jurisprudence", institutions providing higher education, graduate students and teachers. It is of interest to judges, lawyers, prosecutors, other specialists and heads of various organizations.
