In the year of the 150th anniversary of the abolition of serfdom in Russia, the TONCHU Publishing House republished six volumes of the Great Reform. Russian Society and the Peasant question in the past and present", published in 1911 in Russia by the printing house of the I.D. Sytin Partnership for the 50th anniversary of the abolition of serfdom. The first volume of the book contains from the 1st to the 3rd volume. The book shows the desire of the advanced part of Russian society to abolish serfdom. Of great interest are the chapters devoted to peasant life, the organization of the economy and the ethnographic features of the peasants of various provinces. Special attention in the publication is paid directly to the preparation and implementation of the reform itself on the abolition of serfdom on February 19, 1861, its consequences, as well as the issue of the influence of serfdom on the development of art and literature. The publication contains numerous legal documents and legislative acts concerning the situation of peasants.
