VOSHOD programmista
The author of the book lived and worked in the USSR and after its collapse. The book contains a lot of data about the history of the development of computers and information technologies. Operating systems and some programming languages of the last century are popularly described. Many pages are devoted to the unique institute of the Voskhod Research Institute. This institute was engaged in the creation of information and computing systems for the highest government bodies of the state. Without claiming to be particularly objective, the author presents his point of view on the advantages and disadvantages of the country's structure under Soviet rule and after the country's transition to a different social structure. The author had to start programming immediately in large projects of creating information and computing systems with non-trivial architecture. The book pays attention to the programming features of those years and the experience of creating large systems.
